RSAC 2025: A Moment of Progress and Perspective for the OpenSSL Library

As RSA Conference 2025 concludes, we are reflecting on a week of meaningful dialogues about the future of cryptography and how the OpenSSL Library continues to evolve.

This year was the first time exhibiting at RSAC for the OpenSSL Corporation. We formally introduced the Corporation to the broader security community in this capacity, and highlighted the work we are doing to support the OpenSSL Library.

We met face-to-face with many of our customers, partners, and longtime community members. These conversations — grounded in trust and shared goals — reaffirmed the importance of open collaboration and long-term security planning.

The OpenSSL Governance: Strength Through Structure

Many attendees asked about the structure behind the OpenSSL Library. In brief:

This model allows us to balance open innovation with the operational trust our users depend on.

Preparing for the Post-Quantum Era

On April 8th, we released OpenSSL 3.5, introducing early implementation for PQC algorithms: ML-KEM, ML-DSA, and SLH-DSA. At RSAC, we spoke with teams across industries on immediate action points: evaluate cryptographic risk, align with NIST standards, and plan a quantum-safe migration roadmap. Large-scale quantum computers are years away, however, attackers are already harvesting encrypted data for future quantum decryption. Deploy PQC now to protect data that must stay confidential long-term.

Support That Scales With You

RSAC attendees had strong interest in our support contracts. We offer contracts that grow with your needs from basic integration help to full enterprise-level compliance guidance. A trusted partner behind your cryptographic infrastructure is not optional — it is critical.

Looking Ahead: OpenSSL Conference 2025

We held a daily raffle for tickets to the first OpenSSL Conference, October 7–9 in Prague. This event will bring together our global community to share, learn, and shape the next phase of the OpenSSL Library.
