The OpenSSL Corporation Celebrates New Office in Brno: A Hub for Innovation and Community

Our new office in Brno, Czech Republic, has officially opened. This event marks a significant step in expanding the OpenSSL Corporation's global presence and strengthening our ties with the vibrant local technical and open-source community. Brno, with its outstanding technical talent and active open-source environment, has proved to be the ideal location for the next phase of our growth and collaboration.

Event Details

The Grand Opening took place on August 20, 2025, at our new office located at Kotlářská 51a, Brno, Czech Republic.

About the Space

The office is located in a historic building on Kotlářská, whose oldest part dates back to 1894 and once served as a malting house for a local brewery. The space was transformed by Anton Arapov, Director of the OpenSSL Corporation, and the design studio nahaku, with a strong focus on sustainability. They extensively utilised recycled materials, including lights made from old fluorescent tubes, cork floors, and original design details, blending modern technology with the building's historical character.

Highlights of the Grand Opening Day

The Grand Opening featured a welcome address delivered by Tim Hudson and Anton Arapov. Guests had the opportunity to meet our team and join an office tour led by Anton Arapov.

The programme also included a presentation titled “Who We Are and What We Do,” offering insight into the Mission and work of the OpenSSL Corporation. The day concluded with the official opening of our new Brno office, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by Tim Hudson and Anton Arapov.

Attendees explored details about the upcoming OpenSSL Conference, took part in cipher activities and networked into the evening with music by DJ ZIMA. We distributed t‑shirts with a Brno motif and plush polar bears in support of our sponsorship of the Beringia polar bear enclosure at ZOO BRNO.

We were pleased to welcome many members of our team, friends, contributors, the IT community, Brno universities and representatives from local government bodies such as: Brno University of Technology, CzechInvest, CzechTrade, the National Cyber and Information Security Agency, Brno City Municipality, ZOO Brno.

Our new office is more than just a workspace for our diverse team. We envision it as an open hub for collaboration, education, and community, where students, developers, and partners can engage with us.
