Who controls the Corporation?

The Corporation has ten members that collectively elect the board of directors to manage the operation of the Corporation. Elections are held on an annual basis and director terms are generally for three years.

Who controls the Mission?

The Foundation and the Corporation both operate under the Mission and are responsible for any updates or changes to the Mission.

What services does the Corporation offer?

The Corporation offers a variety of paid support options, which offer:
- Extended support for many end-of-life OpenSSL library versions
- Private direct support channels
- FIPS140 Rebranding of the OpenSSL FIPS provider
- Consulting Services
- Custom Signed Windows builds

I cannot find a level of support that suits my company. Can I get a customized support contract?

What is the Corporation?

The Corporation primarily focuses on commercial activities. The Corporation provides professional services, commercial support, and fostering business relationships to ensure sustainability and growth for all projects that have adopted the Corporation. The Corporation is an independent entity but co-equal with the Foundation.

What are the goals of the Corporation?

Commercial support and services for all supported projects, fostering collaborations and partnerships with the business and other organizations, and offering resources such as funding, infrastructure, and developer, management and administrative staffing all support the growth and success of the projects that have adopted the Corporation.

Are there any events organized by the Corporation?

What is the role of the Business Advisory Committee and Technical Advisory Committee?

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) is an advisory group that provides strategic advice, guidance, and insights on business-related approaches. Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) is an advisory group that provides strategic advice on technical issues, challenges and technical guidance to a project. Both groups are formed with the Corporation. The Foundation also has its own BAC and TAC.

How can I get involved in the advisory committees?

Membership in the BAC and TAC involves a nomination and election process. We encourage any community member to stand for one of the advisory committees to represent the views and needs of the community you are part of. If you are interested in being involved, please contact us at corporation@openssl.org.

What does co-equal mean?

Having the same rank or importance; implied cooperative status; both organizations are equally able to make decisions and operate independently; no requirement to have an agreement before acting; neither organization is superior or subordinate to the other

Can my company sponsor the Corporation?

Yes, the Corporation sponsorship program provides companies and organizations with the opportunity to support commercial activities for ongoing development, sustainability and growth of adopted projects. Sponsors receive a range of benefits including company visibility, networking opportunities and more.
