OpenSSL Corporation

The OpenSSL Corporation supports the development and maintenance of the OpenSSL Library, one of the most widely used open-source cryptographic toolkits.

The OpenSSL Library implements technologies used to secure communications and protect data, including:

  • TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3 secure communications

  • X.509 certificate and PKI support

  • Encryption, hashing, and digital signatures

  • Extensible cryptographic architecture (OpenSSL 3.x)

  • FIPS 140-3 validated cryptographic provider

  • Post-quantum cryptography algorithm support

The library is widely used in operating systems, web servers, cloud platforms, embedded systems, and enterprise software products.

Development and Maintenance

The OpenSSL Library is developed within the OpenSSL Project, with contributions from companies and individual developers across the ecosystem.

The OpenSSL Corporation provides the majority of funding for project-paid development work, supporting engineers responsible for maintaining and evolving the library.

Enterprise support contracts enable the OpenSSL Corporation to continue sustaining this work and supporting the OpenSSL Project’s mission.
